Ian Furar, CLPF, NCG, CCIM

Ian Furar is a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary serving individuals, families, and the courts throughout Orange County and beyond. His work includes trustee administration and estate administration, responsibilities that call for sound judgment, patience, and genuine care for the people he serves.

Before becoming a fiduciary, Ian spent more than twenty years in commercial real estate, specializing in acquisitions, site selection, and sales for high-net-worth clients and institutions. He remains a licensed California real estate broker, and that background is an asset when a trust or estate holds real property, though it is only one part of the work.

Equally valuable is the business judgment that comes with that experience. Decades of high-value transactions, contracts, and budgets have made him comfortable with high-stakes environments and the specialists who work within them. Whenever appropriate, Ian works alongside a family’s existing CPAs, financial advisors, and attorneys, and brings in whatever additional expertise is needed to protect the trust and its assets and to carry out the intentions expressed in the trust.

Ian holds three credentials that reflect the full scope of this work. He is a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary (CLPF) through the California Professional Fiduciaries Bureau, a Nationally Certified Guardian (NCG) through the Center for Guardianship Certification, and a CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member), one of commercial real estate’s most rigorous designations. He is also a member of the Professional Fiduciary Association of California (PFAC), holds a Bachelor of Science in Planning and Development from the University of Southern California, and completed the Certificate in Professional Fiduciary Management for Trustees at California State University, Fullerton.

Based on a review of public licensing and certification records, Ian appears to be the only person in California who holds a professional fiduciary license, a real estate broker license, and the CCIM designation, an advanced credential in commercial real estate investment, financial, and market analysis.

Ian does not act as both broker and fiduciary on the same matter. Any real estate transaction involving trust property is always handled by an independent, outside professional. What Ian brings is the knowledge to direct that process well: what to look for, which questions to ask, and who to hire.

Tenere, the firm’s name, is Latin for “to protect, to hold,” a fitting word for a practice built on holding responsibility for people and property on someone else’s behalf.
