Licensure

Ian Furar is licensed as a Professional Fiduciary by the California Professional Fiduciaries Bureau (License #1700) and as a real estate broker by the California Department of Real Estate (License #01255089). You may verify either license at fiduciary.ca.gov and dre.ca.gov.

Independence & Conflict of Interest Policy

Tenere Fiduciary and Tenere Real Estate Advisors are separate businesses operating under separate licenses, and they do not transact business with one another.

Ian does not act as both real estate broker and fiduciary on the same matter, case, or transaction. When a fiduciary matter involves the sale, purchase, or leasing of real property, the transaction is always handled by an independent, unaffiliated real estate professional. Ian receives no commission, referral fee, or other compensation from that professional or from the transaction.

Ian’s background as a CCIM-credentialed commercial real estate professional is relevant to his fiduciary work in a specific way: it helps him select the right broker, ask the right questions, and evaluate the work being done, not perform that work himself. This distinction is intentional. It exists to protect every client and beneficiary Tenere Fiduciary serves and to ensure decisions are made solely in their best interest.

Other Business Interests

Ian is also the owner of Tenere Real Estate Advisors, a commercial real estate brokerage. It is a separate business from Tenere Fiduciary and, as described above, the two do not transact business with one another.

Compensation and Referrals

Tenere Fiduciary does not pay or accept referral fees. In matters where Ian serves as fiduciary, he does not accept commissions, referral fees, or other compensation from any vendor, service provider, attorney, or facility. Fiduciary compensation is determined by the governing trust document, by California statute or court order where applicable, or by written agreement. Fee information is available on request.

Conflict Checks

Before accepting an appointment, Ian conducts a conflict check. If he has a personal or financial interest in a matter, its assets, or a related party, he will disclose it in writing to the appropriate parties, and to the court where applicable, and will decline the matter or seek direction before acting.

Not Legal, Tax, or Investment Advice

Ian is not an attorney. Information on this website, including articles on the blog, is general and educational, may not reflect recent changes in the law, and is not legal, tax, or investment advice. Please consult a qualified professional about your situation.

No Relationship Created by This Website

Contacting Tenere Fiduciary or using this website does not create a fiduciary or client relationship. A relationship begins only upon court appointment, written acceptance of a role, or a signed engagement agreement. Communications sent before then may not be confidential, so please do not send sensitive information until a relationship has been established.
